Step 1. Download Tor Browser from official sources

Tor Browser is a modified Firefox that’s preconfigured to work with Tor. Download it only from the official Tor Project website and official documentation.

  • Use the official download page and pick the correct OS (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android).
  • Avoid “custom builds”, unknown archives, and “optimized” versions from third parties.
  • Keep the installer and the browser updated — security fixes matter.

If Tor is blocked in your country, follow official Tor docs on bridges and censorship circumvention.

Step 2. Installation and first launch

  1. Run the installer and follow the setup steps.
  2. Start Tor Browser and wait for the connection window.
  3. In most cases, click “Connect”.
  4. If you’re behind censorship/proxy, use “Configure” and set bridges per official docs.

Step 3. Basic security settings

Tor hides your IP address, but it does not replace common sense. A few settings and habits reduce risk significantly:

  • Security Level. Increase it for safer browsing. Higher levels can break some site features.
  • No random plugins. Avoid extra extensions. Add-ons can fingerprint you or leak data.
  • Minimum personal data. Avoid logging into identifiable accounts unless necessary.
  • Don’t open downloaded files inside Tor. Open PDFs/DOCs in a separate, “clean” environment.

Step 4. Verify links and avoid phishing

Search queries like “Torzon market link” or “Torzon market shop” are frequently used by attackers to push clones and fake “official” pages.

  • Cross-check the address in several independent sources.
  • Compare spelling carefully: look-alike names (Torzon vs Torzon) are a red flag.
  • Never enter credentials or personal data on a page you can’t verify.
  • Prefer signed announcements (PGP or other verification) when available.

Step 5. Online behavior

Even the best tools can be compromised by unsafe behavior.

  • Don’t mix your normal browser identity with Tor sessions for the same accounts.
  • Use strong unique passwords and a password manager (outside Tor) when appropriate.
  • Update Tor Browser regularly.
  • Always consider local laws and use Tor for legal purposes.
